Key Features of Craiyon

Craiyon opens straight onto a prompt box, with no account needed, and groups everything else into Create, Edit images and Explore. These are the parts people use most, and where SeedVideo AI fits next to each.

Free AI Image Generator With Styles and Shapes

The home page is one prompt box with a Style menu (Artistic, Photo, Illustration, Anime, Vector or Raw, which adds no style) and a Shape menu (square, portrait or landscape); on Auto, Craiyon chooses both. You leave things out by writing them into the prompt, such as “no text” or “without people”, and the FAQ says any language works.

Dedicated pages for logos, anime, posters, coloring pages, tattoos, stickers, memes, comics and more start from the same box. Creating images from text alone never uses credits; free images carry a watermark and are public, while paid plans add private images and Craiyon’s highest quality models.

AI Photo Editor: Describe the Change

The AI Photo Editor takes a JPG, PNG or WebP of up to 10 MB and a sentence such as “put me on a beach at sunset”. Its examples cover new backgrounds, styles such as ink or a 1960s travel poster, outfits and hair, restoring old photos, studio headshots, adding or removing objects, light and seasons, and turning a sketch into a photo.

Craiyon says each edit keeps the rest of the photo, the face included, and you can edit the result again. Editing your own photo, retouching an image or using a reference image uses edit credits: free accounts get free daily credits, and the box shows the cost before you send.

Background Remover, 2K Upscaler and Image to SVG

The Background Remover needs no account and, by its own page, has no daily limit; it downloads in HD up to 2K, on a transparent, white, black or custom background. Subscribers’ removals start first at busy times.

The Image Upscaler renders up to 2K (2048 pixels on the long side) and the Image to SVG converter traces logos, icons and flat art into vector paths for Figma, Illustrator, Cricut or Silhouette. Both need a Craiyon account and use edit credits; uploads can be PNG, JPG or WebP of up to 20 MB.

Short Videos From Your Images

Craiyon lists “bring it to life as a short video” as the last step after creating and editing an image, and its plans put videos next to retouching, upscaling and SVG as things edit credits pay for. The top plan, Ultra, is pitched “for editing and video every day”.

On the check date Craiyon did not name the video model or publish clip lengths, resolutions or the credits a video costs; those show only inside the signed-in editor. Treat it as a way to animate an image, not as a video generator you prompt from scratch.

Its Own Image Models, From DALL·E mini to v5

Craiyon began as DALL·E mini, released in June 2021 after winning the Hugging Face x Google hackathon; its CEO Boris Dayma and the core team renamed it Craiyon in 2022. The About page says it has made more than 5 billion images since 2021 and gets over 5 million visits a month.

Unlike multi-model platforms, Craiyon does not offer third-party models: the About page shows Craiyon v3, v4 and v5 and a v6 “coming soon”. Its FAQ notes that, like any model trained on internet data, it can reflect biases and stereotypes.

Terms, Commercial Use and Attribution

Craiyon’s Terms of Use let anyone use images commercially, but non-subscribers must credit Craiyon in text next to the image, or with its logo in the corner; subscribers need no attribution. Characters, logos and brands in an image still belong to their owners.

The terms also give Craiyon a perpetual, irrevocable, royalty-free license to reproduce, display and distribute your prompts and the images you make, and let it change subscription pricing at any time. One person may use each account, and disputes go to arbitration in Houston, Texas.

Craiyon Product Positioning and Background

Craiyon LLC is a Delaware company with its offices in the United States. Its product started as DALL·E mini, released in June 2021, and took the Craiyon name in 2022; CEO Boris Dayma and the core team have developed it since.

It is positioned as image creation for everyone: free to start with no account, then subscriptions that remove the watermark, make images private, add priority and pay for edits through monthly credits. Everything runs on Craiyon’s own image models rather than a menu of third-party ones, and there is no public API or mobile app yet.

SeedVideo AI is an independent platform built around Seedance video, with Kling, Veo, Sora, Wan and MiniMax as options and a smaller set of image models, published credit prices and one-time credit packs.

Craiyon Reviews: What Real Users Say

Craiyon’s Trustpilot profile is small: www.craiyon.com is unclaimed and rated 3.8 from 9 reviews in all languages, 67% five-star and 11% one-star, with 6 reviews in the past 12 months and no history of asking for reviews. We read all nine. The praise is for free images with no sign-up, a free background remover and fast fixes; the complaints are about results that miss clear instructions, paying to get a usable image and no answer about a purchase. A three-star review sums it up as good for free. Each theme links to example reviews; one review can count toward several themes.

What users like

  1. 01

    Free images with no sign-up

Most five-star reviews are about getting good-looking images for free: one reviewer made a picture with no trial or sign-up, and another is happy that the site makes beautiful images at no cost.

  2. 02

A background remover that stays free

A French reviewer had tried many sites that charge for background removal or export a low-resolution result, and now uses only Craiyon’s.

  3. 03

    Fast, with quick fixes

Reviewers call it much faster than working by hand, for example for a Minecraft texture pack, and one reported a bug that was fixed within 15 minutes.

What users complain about

  1. 01

    Clear instructions, small things wrong

A two-star reviewer says Craiyon gets small details wrong even when the instructions are crystal clear, so you have to repeat yourself many times.

    What SeedVideo AI does

A failed run releases its credits, and the cost of every clip shows before it runs; a finished video you are unhappy with is still charged. One-time pack credits last 180 to 365 days.

  2. 02

Paying to get the final image

The same reviewer says the retries push you to pay for the upgrade if you want a finished result, and calls it kind of scammy; a three-star reviewer rates it simply good for free.

    What SeedVideo AI does

Free sign-up credits need no card and run entry models such as Seedance 2.0 Mini at up to 720p; every model shows its credit cost before you generate.

  3. 03

    No answer about a purchase

A one-star reviewer tried for months to reach Craiyon about an accidental subscription purchase and got no reply by email, phone or Discord. Craiyon’s terms make every purchase non-refundable.

    What SeedVideo AI does

Support is one address, support@seeddance.io, listed in the site footer, and refunds follow one published rule: new purchases within 3 days, if none of that purchase’s credits were used, minus payment fees of up to 4% + $1.50; renewals are non-refundable.

Why Creators Switch from Craiyon to SeedVideo AI

Most people who move want real video, or a way to pay that does not lock them into a subscription with no refunds.

  1. 01

Video you prompt, not a short animation

SeedVideo AI makes video on free sign-up credits, with Seedance 2.0 Mini and other entry models at up to 720p, and Seedance 2.5 clips up to 30 seconds with audio from Lite. Craiyon animates a finished image into a short video and names no video model or clip length.

  2. 02

    Pay once, no subscription

One-time credit packs start at $29.90 with commercial use included, and every model shows its credit cost before you run it; Lite costs $13/month billed yearly. Craiyon’s plans are subscriptions, and its terms make every purchase final.

  3. 03

A week of unlimited Seedance on Premium

Premium ($99/month billed yearly) includes 7 days of unlimited Seedance 2.5 and 2.0 once per account, up to 11 ten-second 720p clips, and a failed run never costs credits. Craiyon’s unlimited allowance covers images from text only.

Stay with Craiyon if…

  • You want quick images for free with no account, and a watermark and public images are fine.
  • You mostly need images, and unlimited generation for $10 to $12 a month suits you.
  • You rely on its free background remover, the describe-to-edit photo editor or SVG export for cutting machines.

Frequently Asked Questions

Answers about Craiyon, checked on Oct 30, 2026.

What is Craiyon used for?
Craiyon is used to make AI images from text: photos, art, anime, logos, posters, coloring pages, tattoos, stickers and memes. Its photo editor changes an uploaded photo from a sentence, and it also removes backgrounds, upscales to 2K, converts images to SVG and turns an image into a short video.
Is Craiyon free?
Yes, with limits. Anyone can create a limited number of images for free, with a watermark and public by default, plus free daily edit credits. Paid plans cost $12, $24 or $84 a month ($10, $20 or $70 billed yearly) and add unlimited images, no watermark, private images and 100 to 1,200 edit credits a month.
Is Craiyon the same as DALL·E mini?
Yes. Craiyon started as DALL·E mini in 2021 and was renamed Craiyon in 2022; its CEO Boris Dayma and the core team have developed it since. It is not made by OpenAI, which makes DALL·E. Today Craiyon runs its own models; its About page lists Craiyon v3, v4 and v5, with v6 coming soon.
Can I use Craiyon images commercially?
Yes, on any plan, under its Terms of Use. Free users must credit Craiyon in text next to the image, or with its logo in the corner; subscribers need no attribution. Characters, logos and brands still belong to their owners, and the terms give Craiyon a license to your prompts and images.
Is Craiyon safe to use? Are my images private?
It is an established service from Craiyon LLC, with no account needed to start. On the free plan your images are public to anyone with their link; paid plans keep them private. Every purchase is non-refundable, and a reviewer reports getting no reply about an accidental subscription.
What is the best Craiyon alternative for video?
For video, SeedVideo AI: Seedance 2.5 at up to 1080p, one-time credit packs from $29.90, no watermark on paid exports, commercial use on packs, and Kling, Veo, Sora, Wan and MiniMax in the same generator. If you want a cinematic toolset on top, Higgsfield is the closest multi-model option.
Is SeedVideo AI affiliated with Craiyon?
No. SeedVideo AI is an independent platform that runs Seedance and other models. Craiyon, DALL·E and Seedance are trademarks of their owners and are named here only to review and compare products.
