AI Cat DanceMake Your Own Cat Dance From One Photo

Attach a photo of your cat and paste one of the prompts below: the photo becomes the first frame, then your cat gets up and dances. No people needed in the photo. Seedance 2.0 Mini by default; a 4-second 480p clip costs 5 credits, which the free sign-up credits cover.

Models, limits and prices read from the live generator on .

The AI cat dance trend turns a pet photo into a short clip of the cat standing up on its hind legs and dancing to a beat. Your photo can be the first frame, which keeps the exact picture (the sofa, the windowsill, the blanket) and makes the cat move, or a reference image, which keeps the cat’s face and markings and puts it in a new scene, such as a roadside at night with two more of your cats, the La Calabaza look.

To make an AI cat dance video, attach a clear photo of your cat, paste a prompt that describes the dance, and generate. The photo becomes the first frame, so the clip keeps your cat’s face, fur and room. For several cats in one clip, attach one photo per cat as reference images: Seedance 2.0 Mini takes up to 9. The default model makes 4–15 second clips at 480p or 720p with sound; a 4-second 480p clip costs 5 credits, which the free sign-up credits cover. The trend’s songs are not built in: add the track in TikTok or Instagram afterwards. A failed run costs no credits.

Your cat, your photo

  • Use a photo of your own cat, or one whose owner said yes. Do not take other people’s pet photos or videos from social media.
  • Leave people out of the frame: a human face in the photo can get the run refused by the real-person check.
  • The dancing happens in the video only. Do not try to get a real cat to stand or dance on its hind legs.

Where the trend started

The three-kitten version that took off was posted by the TikTok account meowtakeover: kittens standing on their hind legs by a road at night. Its June 28, 2026 clip, set to Aaron’s “Cool”, passed 100 million views. The August 27 clip, with one kitten in a cowboy hat and one in round glasses on the sound of Pumpky’s “LA CALABAZA”, passed 29 million, and TikTok labels it as AI-generated. (meowtakeover on TikTok)

“LA CALABAZA”, Spanish for “the pumpkin”, is a dance single Pumpky released on January 8, 2026, and people were dancing to it before the cats were. In October posts started tying it to Halloween: the #lacalabaza tag on TikTok holds more than 55,000 videos, and Google searches for “la calabaza” have run above last year’s level since late August. (Apple Music, the sound on TikTok, TikTok #lacalabaza, Google Trends)

Toc Toc is a separate wave on Patrick Sébastien’s 2015 song “Toc toc”: people were dancing to it by late September 2026, and cat versions followed in October. (Apple Music, TikTok, September 28)

Each card credits the post it shows; we did not make, edit or re-upload any of them, and none of the songs is ours to add to your clip.

A 14-second clip on the sound of Pumpky’s “LA CALABAZA”: a ginger kitten, a white one in a black cowboy hat and a black-and-white one in round glasses stand side by side on their hind legs by a road at night. TikTok labels it as AI-generated.

An 11-second clip from the same account, set to Aaron’s “Cool” rather than La Calabaza: three kittens, white with black patches, cream and grey, stand on their hind legs by a road at night and wave their front paws. The most-watched version of the format we found.

How to make your cat dance

  1. 1

Pick a clear photo of your cat

The whole cat in frame, sharp and well lit, with some space above its head for the paws to go up. A photo of the cat sitting or standing works better than one of it curled up asleep.

  2. 2

Attach it as a first frame or a reference

In the box at the top of this page the photo becomes the first frame: the clip starts on your picture. For the La Calabaza-style trio, open that prompt in the full generator, attach one photo per cat and click the small Start label on the first one (“Use as reference image”).

  3. 3

    Paste a prompt and generate

Copy a prompt below, pick the length and resolution, and press Generate. The composer shows the credit cost before you start, and a failed or refused run is not charged. Add the trend’s song later in your video editor.

Cat dance prompts you can copy

Each prompt opens in the generator with the model and length filled in; you attach your own cat photo there and nothing runs until you press Generate. Every prompt asks the model to keep your cat’s face, fur colour and markings.

Your cat dancing at home

Photo as first frame

The classic version: works with almost any clear photo of one cat.

The cat in the photo stands up on its hind legs and dances to an upbeat beat: it sways its hips, waves both front paws from side to side, takes small bouncy steps and finishes with a quick spin, then looks straight at the camera. Keep its face, fur colour and markings and the room exactly as in the photo. Natural fur and tail movement, steady phone-video framing, one continuous shot, no text on screen.

La Calabaza-style trio by the road

Photo as reference image

Several cats in one clip: attach one photo per cat as a reference image. With fewer than three cats, delete the tags you do not use.

The cats in @Image 1, @Image 2 and @Image 3 stand side by side on their hind legs on a roadside at night under a street light, a few carved pumpkins glowing at their feet, and dance in sync: they bob their heads, sway left and right and raise their front paws together on the beat. The middle cat wears a small plain black cowboy hat. Keep each cat’s face, fur colour and markings exactly as in its photo. Static phone-camera framing at cat height, one continuous shot, no text on screen.

Opens the generator on Seedance 2.0 Mini, 4 s, 480p, with the prompt filled in. Attach your photos, then click the Start label on the first one (“Use as reference image”) so they count as references.

Sudden dance break, then a stare

Photo as first frame

The comedy version: a still cat that bursts into a dance and stops as if nothing happened.

The cat in the photo sits completely still for a moment, then jumps up onto its hind legs and does a fast side-to-side shuffle with its front paws raised, bobbing its head to the beat, then drops back down and stares at the camera as if nothing happened. Keep its face, fur colour and markings and the background exactly as in the photo. Handheld phone-video look, one continuous shot, no text on screen.

Opens the generator on Seedance 2.0 Mini, 4 s, 480p, with the prompt filled in. Attach your photo; it becomes the first frame.

AI cat dance FAQ

Can I put two or three of my cats in one video?
Yes. Open the trio prompt in the full generator, attach one photo per cat and click the Start label on the first photo so they all count as reference images, numbered @Image 1, @Image 2 and so on. Seedance 2.0 Mini takes up to 9 reference images in one run, and the photos add nothing to the price. With a single cat, use one of the first-frame prompts instead.
What photo works best?
A sharp, well-lit photo of one cat with the whole body in frame and its face clearly visible. Seedance 2.0 Mini takes JPEG, PNG or WebP up to 30 MB, 300–6,000 pixels on each side. A cat that is sitting up or standing gives the model more to work with than one that is curled up asleep, and a photo with no people in it is less likely to be refused.
Can I add the song from the trend?
Not inside the generator. With sound on, the model makes its own audio for the clip, but it cannot add a specific licensed song. Download the video and add the track in TikTok’s or Instagram’s editor, where the trend’s sounds are licensed for use.
Do I lose credits when a generation fails?
No. The generator only holds the credits while the clip renders and deducts them when the finished video is saved, so a failed or refused run costs nothing. On free sign-up credits you get one finished video and up to two attempts; a refused photo costs no credits but uses one attempt, so start with your clearest photo.
Is AI cat dance free?
New accounts get 5 free sign-up credits with no card. On Seedance 2.0 Mini, a 4-second 480p clip costs 5 credits, which the free sign-up credits cover. Longer or sharper clips cost more credits, and Seedance 2.5 (up to 30 seconds and 1080p) needs a plan or a credit pack. Videos made with your account carry no watermark, free credits included.
